Abide With Me
Henry Francis Lyte wrote the hymn of “Abide With Me” in the last few days of his life in the year 1847. He had struggled with tuberculosis for many years. Lyte delivered his last sermon on the day he wrote this hymn and died after three weeks when he visited Nice, France for recuperation. His last sermon brought out his inner feelings about the journey that every man needs to undergo from birth to death. An excerpt from the sermon is quoted here:
